Work Readiness Program

The Computer Lab provides computer classes and workshops that are catered to improve and/or build essential office skills necessary in today’s workforce such as typing, internet and email utilization, Word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. We encourage our recipients to follow the Computer Lab program motto to “commit to new technologies.”

The program has three levels of computer classes for adults in three 10 to 15 week sessions:

  • Students in Level 1 courses practice keyboarding, internet access, and email.
  • Level 2 covers basic Windows 7 functions, internet access, email and Microsoft Word.
  • Level 3 concentrated on the Microsoft Office Suite, which includes the following applications: Word Publisher, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.

Student clientele learn to develop cover letters and resumes and learn to navigate websites for online job applications. They also learn how to make business cards, create flyers, greeting cards and business letter formats. Students receive a certificate upon completion of the courses. In addition to the computer classes, we also have open lab hours, where clients can come in and utilize computers.

Powered by Volunteers

Volunteers in the Computer Lab range from professionals, teachers to former students who have mastered the courses. We recruit for lead instructors and assistants every two to three months, to teach our computer classes.
