*Minors 13-17 years old need to be accompanied by an adult to volunteer.

Short Term Volunteers participate in special events, or plan a shorter-term commitment of less than 3 months in any MEND department. Orientation is not required

Long-Term Volunteers are committing to a minimum of 3 hours per week and planning to volunteer for a period longer than 3 months. Since these positions often require in-depth training and/or professional certifications, attending orientation is required.

Group Volunteers participate in special events, or plan a shorter-term commitment in any MEND department. Orientation is not required.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a MEND volunteer?
  • Choose how you would like to engage as a volunteer at MEND by selecting from available opportunities. Complete registration process by submitting sign up form, aswering required questions and selecting from interests.
  • Upon successfully submitting the sign up form, you will receive notification emails with your volunteer status, and regular updates on available orientations, activities, events, and important information.
How do I apply if I am a Court referred volunteer? 
  • We currently accept court referrals from Assistance League Los Angeles only.  These participants may visit our center on Fridays, between 9AM - 11AM to begin the registration processes. Must bring Court paperwork and ID. ***COVID-19 update: We are currently not accepting Court refferals.
Is there an age requirement for volunteering at MEND? 
  • Children between the ages 13-15 must be accompanied by a volunteering adult, parent or guardian on the day of volunteer event or activity.   
  • Teens ages 16 and older may volunteer on their own. 
  • Children under age 13 are not elligable to volunteer at MEND.
