MEND Christmas Program 2018
Join us in giving a merry holiday season to families, seniors and individuals experiencing homelessness in the Northeast San Fernando Valley. This Christmas, MEND will partner with corporations, businesses, families & individuals like you to provide food and gifts for those in need. Get involved in the following ways:
- Adopt a Family– MEND will match you and your group with a family. Your group is asked to provide a sweatshirt or sweater for each family member, buy one new clothing item and one or two new toys for each child & buy a small gift or household item such as a space heater, dishes, or blankets for the parents. Your gift basket should also include enough food for one complete Christmas meal for the entire family. Your group will also arrange to deliver the gifts and food to the family.
If you are new to the adoption program or returning after some time away you may have questions. This year we have an Orientation Night to answer your questions and showcase the MEND Christmas Adoption Program. It is recommended that you attend to learn more about this program and how you can help a family during this holiday season.
Adoption Orientation will take place November 7th 3:00pm @ MEND 10641 N. San Fernando Rd. Pacoima, CA 91331, 2nd Floor Conference Room. Parking is available in the back of the building.
New for 2018 – Information on your family will be distributed following Orientation from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. We will help you make the first contact with the family. If you cannot attend or have questions contact Ann Ohlenkamp at moc.n1537601721sm@sn1537601721oitpo1537601721dA.DN1537601721EM.nn1537601721A1537601721 Adopters, who are unable to attend, will receive the package via email.
Organize a food, toy or blanket drive– One of the most effective ways you can participate in MEND’s Christmas program is to organize a drive of your own. Whether you’re hosting a holiday event and asking guests to bring a toy or collecting canned food with your school. We want to work with you. Register your drive and receive more info on the types of items we need.
- Donate Food. MEND suggest donations of: power/granola bars, fruit cups, pull-top canned tuna or chicken, chili, stews or soups, pasta, juice boxes, 2 lb. bags of pinto beans, 2 lb. bags of rice, peanut butter, oatmeal, packaged nuts or dried berries, and ground coffee. Special holiday items may include frozen poultry, boxed stuffing, cranberries or holiday sweets.
