Clothing Center

MEND’s Clothing Center is set up like any mall shop with attractive window displays and well-organized clothing for men, women and children. Clients are welcome to a monthly allotment of clothes for each family member including but not limited to blankets, housewares and small appliances. Every year, over 20 organizations host clothing drives for the Clothing Center allowing us to provide clothes for every occasion, including business attire for MEND’s job trainees. Key components of the program also include:

  • Baby showers:  Hosted twice a year for new moms, attendees receive a goody bag filled with newborn essentials such as diapers, blankets and valuable information for first time parents.  Events include guest speakers and educational workshops.
  • Halloween Costume Distribution: Families receive a jacket for each family member and may also choose a Halloween costume for their children. The event occurs once a year in the Fall.
  • Project Glamour: An annual event designated for high school aged girls where they receive a formal dress for prom and/or graduation. The teens receive personal development guidance before choosing their gown and accessories. They also receive professional hair and make-up tips for their special event.  While they wait, Mom and Dad can attend a parenting workshop.
  • Diapers and baby wipes are also available for those in need.

In 2016, the Clothing Center received an average of 15,000 client visits a month onsite and through community outreach.
